Sisterhood.

Yesterday, we celebrated my little sisters birthday.

It was a lovely, family filled day full of yummy food, gifts and my mom's epic carrot cake.

The little girl that we used to call "Leaky" (seriously, she cried at the drop of the hat - this had nothing to do with the fact that my brother and I used to torture  tease her.) has grown into the most beautiful, resilient and tender hearted 24 year old I know. She has a confidence about life that I envy, and a fierce loyalty to her friends and family.

And now that she is an aunt, I have seen a whole new side to my sister. She is the most fun. T is absolutely smitten.

Roo, I've got your back, forever and always.

Love you more little sis. xoxo

These days...

These days, I'm living for the weekends. Don't get me wrong, I'm loving my job (and the $$ that comes along with it) but I'm missing my T.

When I was at home with T, I hardly ever knew what day it was (except for Sundays... there is just something about Sundays.) The days melded together and our rhythm was dictated by T's mood, the farm and chores that needed to be done.

These (week)days are dictated by the clock. Alarm goes off around 6am and I hit snooze a couple (ok, maybe more than that) times. Up and at it and out the door with T by 730. After dropping the little Miss at day care, I'm at work by 8am. Work, work, work til 4ish, pick up T and back to the farm by 5pm. Afternoon milking, dinner, bath (for T) and hopefully have her in bed by 830ish pm.

And then I crash.

And repeat.

Laundry piles up, the floors are dirty, there is dog hair EVERYWHERE.

And then Friday rolls around. There is a feeling of anticipation all day, knowing that freedom is only a few hours away. Friday evenings are my favourite now. Endless possibilities abound for the 48 hours of freedom that stretch before me. Freedom from the clock, routine and running around.

And if I'm being completely honest, I get most excited about being able to restore order in my house; folding laundry, vacuuming, grocery shopping, gardening. And just BEING with my little family. No where to be and nothing that has to be done except just soaking up what makes my world go round.

So these days are all about the weekends. However boring they may be, they are all mine.

85.

This weekend we celebrated my grandfather's 85th birthday.

85.

85 years. He has lived a world war, depressions and baby booms, and decades of change (and questionable fashion choices). He was an athlete, a businessman, a husband, a father, a grandfather and now a great grandfather.

In my eyes, he is far younger than his 85 years. He is still the man that takes his daily walks on the beach, plays his 18 holes of golf and likes to work around his country property. He is still the master of public speaking and he will forever be my dance partner. And while he may do all these things a little bit slower than he used to, he is still larger than life in my eyes.

Cheers Grandpops, happy 85th... Here's to many more!
