A Day in the Life...

Our days are fairly routine and obviously revolve around barn chores, and T. Some people have asked how we work morning and afternoon milking into T's schedule so here it is!

5:30-6am (depending on how many times I hit my snooze button): Wake up. Sometimes T is up at the same time, sometimes she is still sleeping. I get myself ready for the barn and a bottle ready for T and then wake the little Miss up if she is still sleeping. We are in the barn by 630 am, and go about our morning chores (milking is normally in progress when we get out there, so we feed calves, bed the cows, sweep etc). While I am doing chores, T is in her stroller ( a VERY vintage umbrella stroller that was her Uncle's barn stroller back in 1985!) entertaining all of us and yelling at the barn cats. Her absolute favourite is feeding the calves with me, or her Nana. Her eyes light up as soon as she hears the calf cart full of pails of milk for the babies rolling down the barn aisle and her legs and arms flap with excitement. If we are stuck out in the barn a little longer than normal (a new calf, less people helping out, something breaks etc) I have a pack n' play out there that I can transfer her into for a change of scenery.

Making new friends before breakfast

8/830am: In for breakfast.

9-1030 am: Playtime! T normally cruises around the living room, getting into everything she shouldn't (dog food, dog toys, dog water dishes, remote controls... basically everything except all the toys we lovingly bought her in her giant toy box)

Apparently the picture is better when you are 2 inches away from it. She's lovin' it.

1030-1130am: Nap time for T. Hopfully. Morning naps are fairly concrete at this point but she is pretty opinionated about naps in general so its always a "put her in her crib and cross your fingers" type of situation. I try to use this time to do some tidying, laundry etc.

12pm: Lunchtime.

1230-230pm: More playtime/ running errands in town/ work outside/prepping dinner if I am in super domestic goddess mode. Fairly self explanatory.

230-4pm: Another nap for T (and sometimes me... lately she just *happens* to fall asleep in my arms while we are rocking in the arm chair and then I can't possibly move her... so I might as well kick back and nap too, obviously.)

Nap Fail.

4:30pm: Dinner for T.

5 - 7pm: Afternoon chores. Milking, feeding calves etc. There is less to do in the afternoons (we only bed the stalls and sweep in the morning) so I generally am on hand for milking and T does more entertaining and more kitty harassment  loving.

My Babies.

7-730pm: Bathtime, story, bottle, bed for T!

8 - whenever I actually head to bed (usually around 1030pm): make dinner, eat, watch TV, fart around on the computer. Bed.

Repeat.

So... fairly mundane. But somehow the days have absolutely flown by and my little monkey is almost 11 months old! How the heck did that happen?!

  1. I love the photo of her greeting the cow, and the one of her petting the kitty.
